History, Theory, & Foundations of Play Therapy (Part I and II)

This is a precursor to other play therapy workshop offerings. A historical perspective relative to the origins, contributions of the giants in the field and the early use of play therapy will be included. Play therapy techniques will be presented and practiced.

Objectives:

  • Identify play therapy history & contributors to early beginnings
  • Analyze fundamental theoretical approaches
  • Discuss the role of therapist as intervener
  • Demonstrate application of play therapy techniques to specific issues
